Building has 4 systems total. Customer stated that they are having issues with the upstairs which contains 2 systems, one thermostat on each side. The 2017 2.5 ton Carrier not working properly because of a shorted compressor. The 8ton 2017 Carrier AC out of refrigerant. Customer approved the electric leak search and leak was found in the evaporator coil Both systems are out of warranty Will be sending quotes to customer for repairs, replacement, and maintenance plans
Install new supply plenum and new collars for ducts. Extend and reconnect supply ducts back to system. Patch hole in side of evaporator coil. Seal up system with mastic.
Performed single system cooling maintenance. Replaced 14 x 25 x 1 filter. Cleared and treated drain line with chlorinated tablets. Inspected electrical connections, and components. Checked refrigerant level. Washed outdoor condensing coil. Unit is cooling normally at this time.
Removed coil and properly installed splash guard that was not installed properly from the original installation of the coil. Reworked drain connection at coil, verified coil is level/pitched toward drain, and resealed entire coil with mastic. Watched system for 4 hours and residual water was dripping but did slow down and stop dripping before I left. Guy is going to check it and let us know. Told guy that if we have anymore issues out of this, the coil will need to be replaced.
Arrived and Ann met me on site. Found thermostat set to emergency heat and fan was set to on. I cycled the mode to cool and set the temperature below the inside temperature. The system turned on correctly after the thermostat delay was over. I checked over the system and found no issues at this time. Filter is still ok, temperature drop across the coil is good, air floor is good and refrigerant charge is with in specifications. System ran and operated correctly while on site and temperature dropped to 67 degrees.
Coil is level and system draining properly see no water drips anywhere. Let the system run for a hour and a half. Guy will check it when he gets home and let us know.
Warranty- complete. I fixed insulation on metal trunk line, leveled coil, taped and sealed coil to the furnace and resealed coil and supply plenum. System is currently draining condensation out. Drain line was clogged , I cleared it out.
System does not have supply plenum, ducts are coming straight off of the evaporator coil. Will need to install supply plenum and reconnect ducts properly to system. Need to patch hole on side of evaporator coil that has duct cut in. Will be sending estimate to fix install.
Arrived and looked futher into the issue with main food. I called the manufacturer and found out the the doors were swapped but the units were connected correctly. I washed the outdoor unit out and watched the pressures. After 30 minutes running the suction pressure began to drop. I diagnosed low return in on the system. 12” return is restricted where it goes threw chases. We will need to add a 12” return to the top of the stairs. I will call back with an estimate. Customer was on a conference call.
Warranty from txv diagnostic. Diagnosed issue is actually from the outdoor units being connected to the wrong indoor units. Ac units will need to be swapped to get correct match up. We will reimburse customer for the txv replacement since it was misdiagnosed.
